Rival body protectors come in a one-size construction (O/S) with optional extension straps to fit larger frames. The protector is designed to wrap around the torso with the foam plate covering the ribs and solar plexus, and the strap-and-buckle system handles the size range. Measure your waist at the navel level over a standard t-shirt — the protector sits where a normal belt sits.
Fit tip: If you train with multiple coaches or share equipment across a gym, the O/S + extensions combination covers boxers from 28" to 65" comfortably. The padded plate stays put; only the strap length changes.
| Size | Waist circumference |
|---|---|
| O/S (standard strap) | 28–50" |
| O/S + one extension | 51–58" |
| O/S + two extensions | 59–65" |
How to measure your waist
- Measure around your natural waistline over a t-shirt, at navel level.
- Keep the tape level all the way round — don't dip at the back.
- Don't suck in or push out. Stand normally with arms relaxed.
- Coaches taking many shots a day should err larger — a slightly looser strap absorbs more shock than one cinched tight.
