A Brief History of Muay Thai Shorts

Muay Thai, also known as "the art of eight limbs," is a traditional martial art from Thailand that uses punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes.

Muay Thai isn't just about the fight; it's also about the flair and the tradition, starting with what fighters wear - those eye-catching shorts. They're not just random shorts; they've got a story, with each color and style shouting out where a fighter's from, their gym's legacy, and all that. Fighters jazz them up with lucky charms and talismans, hoping to score some extra luck in the ring.

But these shorts are more than just a combat-ready wardrobe; they're a piece of Muay Thai's soul. Ever seen how fighters start and end a match with that graceful dance? That's the wai khru ram muay, a tribute to their mentors, pals, and the legends before them. It's like a nod to the past, with every move telling tales of ancient warriors. And the shorts? They're a big part of the ritual, worn with pride to show deep respect for the sport and its storied past.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should Muay Thai Clothing fit?

Muay Thai Clothing should fit comfortably, allowing for a full range of motion. Shorts should be loose enough to allow for high kicks, but not so loose that they fall down, we suggest sizing up when you pick out Muay Thai shorts since they tend to run a bit small.

How do I care for my Muay Thai Clothing?

Most Muay Thai Clothing can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water. However, it's always best to check the care instructions on the label.
