Hayabusa Shin Guards Size Guide

Use this guide to size the Hayabusa T3 Striking Shin Guards. Fit is determined by two measurements: shin length (top of foot to just below the kneecap) and the circumference of your calf at its widest point. Shin guards that are too short leave the knee and instep exposed; ones that are too long ride into the kneecap and rotate during kicks.

How to measure

  • Shin length: stand upright with your weight evenly distributed. Measure from the top of the foot (just where it meets the ankle) up to the bottom edge of the kneecap.
  • Calf circumference: measure around the widest part of your calf muscle with the leg relaxed.
  • The top of the shin guard should sit just below the kneecap. The side extensions should cover the outer part of the knee.
  • The instep flap should sit flat across the top of the foot. If it folds or bunches up, the guard is too long.

Shin length and calf circumference to size

Size Shin length Calf circumference
S 12 – 13 in (30 – 33 cm) 11.5 – 14.0 in (29 – 36 cm)
M 13 – 14 in (33 – 36 cm) 13.0 – 15.5 in (33 – 39 cm)
L 14 – 15 in (36 – 38 cm) 14.5 – 17.0 in (37 – 43 cm)
XL 15 – 16 in (38 – 41 cm) 16.0 – 18.5 in (41 – 47 cm)

Notes

  • If shin length puts you in one size and calf circumference puts you in another, prioritise shin length — the guard must sit between the foot and knee correctly. Calf width adjusts via the rear straps.
  • For Muay Thai amateur competition, shin guards with full foot protection are mandatory — confirm your governing body's rules before competing.
