Fairtex MMA gloves are sized by hand width across the knuckles — unlike boxing gloves which use ounces, MMA gloves use S, M, L and XL because they're open-finger and need to fit the hand shape, not the bodyweight class. Pick by knuckle width and you'll get a glove that closes correctly and stays put through grappling and clinching.
Fairtex MMA Glove Size Chart (FGV12, FGV15, FGV18)
Measure the width of your hand across the knuckles (not including the thumb) in inches.
| Glove Size | Knuckle Width (in) |
|---|---|
| S | 3 – 3.3 |
| M | 3.5 – 3.8 |
| L | 3.8 – 4 |
| XL | 4+ |
How to measure your hand
- Open your dominant hand flat with fingers together.
- Run a soft tape measure across the widest part of your hand at the knuckles, excluding the thumb.
- Record the measurement in inches and match to the chart above. If you fall between sizes, size up — MMA gloves should feel snug but never crushing across the knuckles.
Fairtex MMA glove model fit notes
- FGV12 Ultimate MMA Gloves: hybrid sparring-and-grappling glove with a curved fit; sizes S–XL run true to the knuckle width chart.
- FGV15 MMA Sparring Gloves: double-wrist-wrap closure for fight-style stability; same S–XL sizing.
- FGV18 Super MMA Sparring Gloves: heavier padding for stand-up sparring; if your knuckles measure right at the edge of a size, size up for extra padding clearance.
If you're stepping up from MMA gloves to bag work or boxing sparring, see our Fairtex Boxing Gloves Size Guide for the ounce-based sizing those gloves use, or browse the full Fairtex collection.
