Twins Special boxing gloves are sized by ounce (oz) weight — the gold-standard convention used across Muay Thai and boxing globally. Twins is a Bangkok-based brand handmade in Thailand since 1976, and their gloves match weight to bodyweight and training intent. Use the chart below as a starting point, then refine based on whether you're sparring, hitting pads or working the heavy bag. Browse the full range in the Twins Special collection.
Fit tip: Twins recommend matching glove weight to your bodyweight first, then adjusting for training intensity. Heavier gloves carry more padding for partner safety in sparring; lighter gloves favour speed and competition use. The size chart below is the official Twins guide.
| Glove Size | Bodyweight (lbs) | Bodyweight (kg) |
|---|---|---|
| 10 oz | 100 - 120 lbs | 45 - 54 kg |
| 12 oz | 120 - 140 lbs | 54 - 63 kg |
| 14 oz | 140 - 160 lbs | 63 - 72 kg |
| 16 oz | 160 lbs + | 72 kg + |
How to pick the right ounce
- Sparring: Default to 16 oz regardless of bodyweight — most UK gyms require 16 oz for partner safety.
- Heavy bag / pads: 12 - 14 oz balances feedback with hand protection across most weight classes.
- Competition / technical drills: 8 - 10 oz where your sanctioning body allows it.
- Beginners: Start with 14 oz — protects your hands while you build technique and learn correct fist position.
Not sure which size to pick? If you train across formats (bag work, pads, occasional sparring), 14 oz or 16 oz covers the widest range. We offer 30-day returns on unworn boxing gloves with tags attached. Browse the full Twins Special collection for shorts, shin guards and Thai pads.
