Pro-Box boxing gloves are sized in ounces (oz), not by hand size. The right weight depends on your bodyweight and what you train: heavier gloves for sparring (more padding, safer for your partner), slightly lighter for bag and pad work (better feedback and hand-speed). Use the chart below to choose between 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz and 16oz across the Pro-Box Club Spar, Pro-Spar, Champ Spar, Speed Spar and PU Club Essentials ranges.
| Bodyweight | Bag / Pad Work | Sparring |
|---|---|---|
| Under 50 kg / 110 lb | 8 oz | 10 oz |
| 50–65 kg / 110–145 lb | 10 oz | 12 oz |
| 65–80 kg / 145–175 lb | 12 oz | 14 oz |
| 80–90 kg / 175–200 lb | 14 oz | 16 oz |
| Over 90 kg / 200 lb+ | 14–16 oz | 16 oz |
How to choose
- Sparring partners protect each other — heavier gloves (16 oz) absorb impact better and reduce concussion risk.
- Bag and pad work prioritises hand-speed feedback — slightly lighter gloves let you train at realistic punch tempo.
- Competition rules dictate weight (typically 10 oz amateur, 8–10 oz professional) — this guide covers training gloves only.
- Kids and juniors start at 6–8 oz depending on age and weight — ask the coach before buying.
