March 5th, 2016 will see the next instalment on the journey of Ireland’s Conor McGregor, as he continues to talk people into the stands, before putting on his latest show of brilliance. Most notably, perhaps, this fight will mark a step up in weight class for McGregor, this time competing as a lightweight.
His opponent will be the current reigning UFC Lightweight champion, Rafael Dos Anjos, who will enter the MGM with a professional MMA record of 25-7. Anjos, hailing from, Niteroi, Brazil, earned plaudits for his emphatic and dominant victory of Anthony Pettis at UFC 185, and will look to continue his winning streak by taking home the glory on McGregor’s first outing since he was finally able to get his hands on Aldo. We all know what McGregor’s game is about by now, but what will Anjos look to trouble him with? With one of the strongest combined BJJ and Muay Thai backgrounds in the sport, Anjos is confident that the fate of Aldo won’t repeat itself at his expense:
“There won't be any chance of him doing anything like that to me, "I've fought the best lightweights in the world and McGregor's a featherweight. I certainly have the beating of him.”.
If you haven’t already booked your seats in the MGM, or at least in front of the TV on the night of the 5th (or very early morning on the 6th if you’re in the UK); check out the promo video below for the fight which we guarantee will get you hype for this clash
Not only are we entering UFC 196 on the back of McGregor’s ridiculously impressive 13-second victory over Jose Aldo; but also on the back of one of the greatest sporting upsets of all time - Holly Holm doing what many said was impossible, beating (and soundly) Ronda Rousey. Holm will enter the octagon for the very first time after her life-changing knockout of Rousey, defending her belt against Miesha Tate, making UFC 196 a double header that you simply can’t miss.

Huge news for UFC 198
Although an official date has not yet been announced, we can announce the news that the UFC is expected to officially sign Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones to the main card of UFC 198. After their ‘fight of the night’ clash at UFC 182 in the MGM Arena, in which Jones walked away the victor by unanimous decision, the two have been paired up again for a fight which should take place in the summer of this year. This will mark Jones’ return to the octagon after being reinstated by the UFC in October of last year after a run in with the law, and this match has all the ingredients for another huge box office success for Dana White and the UFC.
