Venum MMA shin guards — five-tier MMA-heritage range

Venum is one of the most recognised combat-sports brands worldwide — MMA-heritage at the core, but the shin guard architecture handles Muay Thai and kickboxing equally well. The MMA shin guard catalogue is the broadest five-tier ladder we carry, covering everything from cotton-blend entry sparring guards to Thailand-made flagship neoprene. The breadth is the point: most fighters can find a Venum shin guard at their exact training intensity and budget without compromising on sport coverage.

How to pick the right Venum shin guard

For one or two casual sessions a week and bag-led training, the Kontact entry tier is sufficient — cotton-blend with universal stretch fit, fine for technique drills and beginner sparring. For two to four club sessions a week with regular sparring, the Challenger mid-tier steps up to synthetic leather and sized-adult fit. For four or more sessions a week with serious sparring rotation, the Elite series Thailand-made shins are the workhorse — what most committed UK MMA fighters end up wearing. For fighters who specifically want a slimmer, more athletic feel against the shin, the Elite Evo neoprene-based flagship is the call. For multi-discipline gyms running karate or taekwondo on alternate nights, the Impact Evo carries the cross-sport certification.

Construction and materials

Venum spans four distinct construction approaches, which is what makes the brand worth understanding. The cotton-blend entry tier (Kontact) is breathable and universally stretch-fitted, but absorbs sweat faster than the upper tiers. The China-made synthetic leather mid-tier (Challenger) delivers sized-adult fit with the durability of a synthetic upper. The Thailand-made vegan synthetic leather workhorse (Elite series) is the same factory tradition that produces Twins and Fairtex, tuned to Venum's modern athletic shape — the longest-lasting tier for high-volume sparring. The neoprene-based flagship (Elite Evo) is lighter and more flexible, sits closer to the shin, and is favoured by fighters who train in low-cut shorts where bulk shows. Each construction has trade-offs: cotton breathes but absorbs sweat, synthetic leather is the durability default, neoprene is light but takes longer to dry between sessions.

Sizing and fit

Most Venum shin guards size as Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large. The Kontact and Tactical XT use Universal sizing with elastic strapping and fit a wider height range from a single SKU. The Tiger Kids covers ages roughly six to twelve. An honest sizing test for sized-adult shins: try a Medium if you're around 5'8" and average build. Size up to Large if you train in leggings or compression shorts — the extra fabric circumference adds genuinely noticeable bulk to the calf, and a too-tight shin guard cuts off circulation during longer rounds. The Elite series runs slightly truer-to-size than the Challenger.

Venum vs other MMA shin guard brands

Venum is the broadest brand range on the page — five distinct construction tiers and dozens of colourways. Compare with Fumetsu shin guards for the UK MMA-community default (deeper UK club presence, comparable depth at the mid-to-premium tiers but no entry tier as low as the Kontact), Bytomic MMA shin guards for the UK value pick with a kids-MMA-specific variant Venum doesn't carry, 8 Weapons MMA shin guards for distinctive Sak Yant aesthetic and a tighter two-tier ladder, or Top Ten MMA shin guards for WAKO kickboxing and IFMA Muay Thai competition certification. The MMA shin guards parent page has the complete brand comparison.
