Fly Glove Size Guide
Boxing gloves are measured in ounces (oz). A higher oz means more padding and weight — not a bigger hand fit. The right size depends on what you're training for and your bodyweight. Use the table below as a starting point, then check with your coach if your gym has its own sparring policy.
Adult training and sparring gloves

These are general guidelines. Your gym may have its own sparring rules — always check with your coach before sparring sessions.
Bag mitts (hand fit)
Bag mitts are sized Small, Medium, or Large by hand fit — they're not weighted in ounces. Pick by your everyday glove size: if you usually wear a small or medium glove, take the matching size in a bag mitt. Try one size up if you wrap your hands before training.
Kids gloves (4oz)
Kids gloves are 4oz and designed for smaller hands and lighter bodyweights. If your child is approaching adult sizing or training competitively, 8oz adult gloves may fit better.
How to choose
- Training only? 14oz is the safe default for most adults.
- Sparring? 16oz in most UK gyms, 14oz if you're under 60 kg and your gym allows it, 18oz if you're in a heavier weight class.
- Competition only? 8oz or 10oz — these are not for general training.
- Pad and bag work, smaller hands? 12oz works well.
